About Us
This site was created using the talents of my wife, who actually came up with
the name, my oldest daughter, who is the technical consultant when it comes
to changing and adding to the site, and my youngest daughter, who
contributes her artistic vision.
Without the support, ideas, and contribution of my family, this Website would
not be possible.
This website was started in order to combine my two favorite interests which
are Bodybuilding and the Internet!
My name is Dave Monyer and I have loved Bodybuilding since I was 15 years
old. My parents bought me my first 110 lb vinyl covered weight set and a
basic cheap bench to set up in the laundry room. It wasn't long before I had
rigged a garage door pulley system from the rafters for a lat pull down
machine!
I was a very skinny kid and was picked on by the big kids all through school. I
lifted on and off for a few years, making some progress, but it wasn't until I
was just out of high school and joined Bally's that I really changed my
physique.
I was commuting to a Technical school at the time, and Bally's had an affiliate
gym in Allentown, PA that I would go to after school most days. I felt a bit
inadequate being the skinny guy in a room full of much more muscular men,
but some of the guys treated me just like any other gym rat, and gave me
pointers from time to time, which I really appreciated.
It was during this period that people began to notice me as someone with
muscles and strength. At one point I was asked to be on a softball team by
people who never gave me the time of day, and when I was up to bat,
everyone would "sink out" expecting me to hit it out of the park! I actually was
lousy at softball, but I guess my new muscles gave me the appearance of a
powerful athlete!
Over the next 20 years or so, I had many interests and hobbies, but I always
had a gym in my basement. I knew I would never become a competitive
bodybuilder, but I followed all the pros since the early 80's. I was always
reading Muscle Builder (now Muscle and Fitness) and Muscular Development
magazines. I also started reading Flex and Ironman magazines, of which I
have stacks of down in my home gym.
I currently have a complete gym in my basement and workout with a friend
every other day, hitting each body part once per week.
